Dec 04, 2012

In the middle of October 2012, the acquisition of Q.CELLS by the South Korean Hanwha Group came into force. The strengths of Q.CELLS in terms of quality, innovation and technology leadership meet the financial resources, the manufacturing expertise and the global customer network of the Hanwha Group.
Founded in 1952, the Hanwha Group today belongs to the top ten leading Korean companies, with 40,000 employees in 53 domestic companies and 78 global branches in the three core areas of construction, financing and service. In 2011, Hanwha – listed by Fortune Global 500 – achieved assets of 87.7 billion USD and realized a turnover of more than 31.6 billion USD. Hanwha has chosen the location of Bitterfeld-Wolfen as headquarters of Hanwha-Q.CELLS, and has its manufacturing base in Malaysia and international selling agencies in USA, Japan and Australia. 1,225 people are employed worldwide in research, production, distribution, sales and administration. Together, they will be one of the few PV companies to be fully integrated along the entire value chain of PV and a true global player.
