Urgent Safety Alert: ECORAN GmbH Photovoltaic Modules

It has been identified that some ECORAN GmbH photovoltaic modules, previously manufactured by SCHOTT Solar, may be subject to premature aging. In order to ensure user safety, we would like to inform you that the issue is caused by the polyamide backsheet, which may degrade over time. This degradation could pose a risk depending on the installation conditions and climate.
Under specific environmental conditions, there is a risk of electric shock from modules with deteriorated backsheets, which could compromise the safety and well-being of individuals. Therefore, parts of the photovoltaic system that may have deteriorated or at-risk backsheets should not be touched without adequate electric shock protection.

The following photovoltaic modules, produced between 2010 and 2012, may be affected by this issue:
SCHOTT Perform POLY, 210-245 Wp
SCHOTT Perform MONO, 180-195 Wp
SCHOTT Power POLY, 210-250 Wp
SCHOTT MONO, 180-190 Wp
SCHOTT POLY, 155-240 Wp

If you own a solar system with the modules listed above, ECORAN GmbH and Coenergia recommend the following:
  • Do not inspect the solar system on your own!
  • Delegate any inspections exclusively to qualified or experienced personnel.
  • Ensure that all individuals involved in the work on the system are informed about the associated risks.
  • Ensure that only certified technicians manage the system and that all safety regulations are followed.
  • Never touch the photovoltaic modules without using appropriate protective equipment against electric shocks.
  • Do not handle wiring, plugs, or other system components without proper protection.
Additionally, it is essential to limit access to the system to authorized personnel only. Technical personnel must be informed of the risk before carrying out any work on the system.
If secure access cannot be ensured, the affected modules must be immediately disassembled by qualified technicians and disposed of in accordance with legal requirements.

Coenergia is no longer a supplier of ECORAN GmbH photovoltaic panels and has informed its customers who purchased them between 2010 and 2012.
